Anne-Sophie Blervacq

Associate Professor with Habilitation

Cellular Reprogramming, Vibrational Spectroscopy, Plant Cell Walls, Symbiotic Interactions

Holding a PhD (1996) and an HDR (2001), Anne-Sophie Blervacq began her research on plant cell dedifferentiation and somatic reprogramming, focusing on cell wall ArabinoGalactan Proteins, in collaboration with IRD and CIRAD in Montpellier.

From 2008, she directed her work towards natural fiber plants, particularly flax, within the ‘Plant Cell Wall Dynamics’ team. There, she developed innovative methods for chemical mapping and vibrational spectroscopy (RAMAN, FT-IR) in partnership with LASIRE (University of Lille). In 2025, she joined IBSP to apply these tools to the study of sustainable symbiotic interactions (Roscoff/Tetraselmis), the evolutionary mechanisms of photosynthesis (e.g., Chromera), and the fine characterization of starches.

She teaches plant biology, physiology, and embryology, particularly at the Bachelor’s level.

She initiated and directed the English bilingual track of the Life Sciences Bachelor’s program (2013–2019), and is highly committed to educational innovation.
