Associate Professor

Cellular biology, phytopathogenic bacterial signaling, host-pathogen interactions

Brigitte Delrue completed her thesis in Steven Ball’s research group. She primarily generated mutants using various techniques and then developed methods for structural analysis of starches produced in collaboration with members of the Unit.

After a short postdoctoral fellowship at the IGF in Berlin, she was appointed Senior Lecturer (Maître de conférences) at the University of Lille in 1993. After starting her career in the same group, she joined the ‘bacterial envelope genetics’ team led by Prof. Jean-Marie Lacroix.

Brigitte Delrue is a researcher in cellular biology, with a strong interest in signaling mechanisms (EnvZ–OmpR) in phytopathogenic bacteria such as Dickeya dadantii.

Her recent publications examine the emergence and adaptation of the genus Dickeya through modifications of the OmpF porin. She contributes to the understanding of host-pathogen interactions and osmoregulated regulatory networks necessary for virulence in plant environments.

Brigitte Delrue has also been heavily involved in creating diverse courses (general microbiology, agri-food microbiology, associative engagement, student’s personal and professional project, hygiene and safety, internships…).

She is the professional integration referent for PhDs in Biology from the Biology-Health and SMRE Doctoral Schools. Finally, she is the disability referent for SVTE students.
