Malika Chabi

Postdoctoral Researcher

Structural glycobiology, polysaccharides

Driven by a passion for biology, I pursued training in biotechnology before specializing in genetics and microbiology during my Master’s degree at the University of Lille. My experience in a hospital laboratory, dedicated to the study of bacterial resistance, strengthened my determination to engage in research.

During my doctoral studies, I specialized in ‘-omics’ approaches with a strong interest in physiology, focusing on the characterization of starch-synthesizing cyanobacterial mutants, which allowed me to acquire skills in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Across two postdoctoral positions, I developed expertise in sugar metabolism and photosynthesis, integrating phylogenetic, genetic, and -omics analysis approaches. My current research focuses on starch metabolism, particularly in Chromera velia, with a dual objective: to study protein-protein interactions and the interconnections between starch and photosynthesis, while developing new strategies to analyze these biological dialogues.
